About Low alloy piping materials are often called chrome moly materials because of the chemical makeup of Molybdenum (Mo) and Chromium (Cr). Chromium increases the hardness and strength and only minimally reduces elasticity. Molybdenum improves tensile strength and especially heat resistance.
